Mediations

Most divorces can be settled without going to trial through alternative dispute resolution.  Under the Texas Family Code, parties to a divorce can participate in mediation.  Many Judges in the Dallas County Family Courts require mediation prior to setting a case for trial.  Mediation is a process in which an impartial third person, called a mediator, encourages and assists the parties in communicating with each other in order to craft a settlement that is acceptable to both of the parties.  The parties and their attorney’s attend this conference and through compromise are able to work out an agreement that deals with all issues in the divorce.  Mediation is the predominant method used to settle family law issues.  The agreement reached is binding on all parties and the Final Order is based on this agreement.
